Lionel Messi is set to make his 500th appearance for Barcelona at the weekend, and here are some amazing records of him after 499 games for Barcelona, courtesy of Opta:

-His highest scoring season was in the 2011-12 season where he score 50 times in La Liga and 14 times in the Champions League scoring a total of 73 in all competitions.

-He has scored in 266 matches and Barca have only lost on 9 occasions whenever he scored (3.4 percent).

-He has scored 236 goals at Camp Nou, 174 at away grounds and 14 at neutral grounds including goals in the 2009 and 2011 Champions League finals.

-Messi has scored 12 times at the Santiago Bernabeu and 11 times at the Vincente Calderon, his two highest scoring grounds away from home.

-He has played his 499 matches under five coaches, the most 219 under Pep Guardiola and the least 46 under Gerardo Martino.

-He has tasted victory 349 times in 499 matches.

-Messi has spent 39,670 minutes in total on the pitch.

-Messi has 159 assists.

-Messi has won 26 trophies. 7 La Liga titles, 4 UEFA Champions League titles, 3 Copa Del Reys, 6 Spanish Super Cups, 3 UEFA Super Cups and 3 Club World Cup Titles.

Also, Messi has the most assists in the last 25 years of La Liga with 115, breaking Luis Figo's record of 105 in February 2015.

Messi also holds the record for the most calendar goal in a year with 91 goals in 2012.

Neymar showed once again why he is been tipped as the heir to Messi and Ronaldo's dominance in the Balon d'Or by putting in a fine display as Brazil all but booked a spot at next year's FIFA World Cup in Russia with  a 3-0 home win against Paraguay. Neymar was the Captain for the day, his first time of wearing the armband since March last year and he didn't fail to impress as he scored his 52nd international goal. Philippe Coutinho scored the first goal of the encounter 10 minutes before the recess after combining with Paulinho, who scored a hattrick against Uruguay a few days back. Neymar then scored the second from the penalty spot after 64 minutes. Marcelo put some gloss on the scoreline with four minutes remaining to hand the CONMEBOL leaders their ninth successive victory under Coach Tite. What a way to qualify for the World Cup.
