EPL Matchday 2: Preview

The battle for the most coveted piece of silverware in English football continues this weekend, with the promise of two fiercely contested London derbies in the offing. Arsenal, seeking to bounce back from their under par display at home to the Citizens, visit the SW6 to take on a Chelsea side that eased to a 3-0 victory over David Wagner's Huddersfield Town. Fulham travel to Wembley to take on stellar Spurs -- a side they last met in the FA Cup two seasons ago, the Lilywhites running out 3-0 winners at Craven Cottage, with the help of a Harry Kane hat trick. One can only expect another keenly contested outing, as results would prove telling, in validating the credentials of the London heavy weights this season.

Arsenal take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this weekend.

For the Manchester clubs, the buzz at both camps would be to simply do more of the same. Both kicked off the season with wins, and would be looking to go further up the table, as City host lowly Huddersfield Town, and United play away to Brighton and Hove Albion. Key notes in the build up to these fixtures are that both Manchester clubs dropped points against their respective opponents last season in similar fixtures.

At Merseyside, Liverpool, in the only Monday night fixture, go away to resurgent Crystal Palace, who earlier this week secured the future of their star man, Wilfred Zaha; amidst a myriad of interests the 25-year old received this summer. The Englishman committed his future at Selhurst Park till 2023, and would be looking to cause an upset against the Reds, who are in blistering attacking form at the moment. Everton welcome the Saints to Goodison Park, and would be looking to right the wrongs in their season's opener against newly promoted Wolves.

Other fixtures this weekend include Watford travelling to Lancashire, to take on Burnley at the Turf Moor. The Clarets, seeming to find life with European football really demanding, would have to be at their best, if they are to overcome the Hornets. Neil Warnock's Cardiff City are at home to Newcastle United, Leicester City welcome Wolves to the King Power, and West Ham brace themselves for their first home game under new management, with a visit from the Cherries.
